Photo Safari

13 Days (Photo Safari)
Most of our photo safari clients are divided into two groups; those who wish all or part of their safari is with professional wildlife photographers or videographers that we arrange and those who are confident of their ability and are looking for locations that offer varied photo opportunities.
For those of you looking for a diverse Photo Safari, this could be the safari for you! Here we combine the animals of the Masai Mara, Tsavo and Amboseli where Kilimanjaro looms over you, to the exotic island of Zanzibar with its ancient city of Stone Town, spice plantations and fantastic marine life. A photographer’s delight!

Days 3-4: Masai Mara
After breakfast, we shall transfer you to the airstrip for your direct flight to Masai Mara National Reserve.

The Mara is home to a breathtaking array of life. The vast grassland plains are scattered with herds of Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle, and Topi. The Acacia forests abound with Bird life and Monkeys. Elephants and Buffalo wallow in the wide swamps. The rivers are brimming with Hippos and Crocodiles.

Lions, these regal and powerful hunters, dominate the grasslands. Cheetahs are also a common sight in the Mara, as are Hyena and smaller predators, such as Jackals.

The Mara is an awesome natural wonder, a highlight of any Photo safari as are the colorful Masai Warriors you will visit.

Kichwa Tembo is an oasis of Hemingway-style tents shaded by a dense forest canopy. Each luxurious tent has a private deck with sweeping views of the greatest grassland system on earth, the Masai Mara.

There is an en suite bathroom with shower, stone floors and soft lighting. Each tent stands at least eight meters away from the next, ensuring absolute seclusion.

The camp is set among the forests just below the spot where a famous scene from Out of Africa was filmed. This setting was also chosen to illustrate the motion picture's poster.

Kichwa Tembo's main living area and all the tents overlook endless, game-filled plains and are shaded by dense forest canopy. In the background, the Oloololo Escarpment stretches into the distance.

At night, Askaris (Maasai warrior security guards) accompany you to and from your tent.

Day 6: Tsavo West National Park

You continue your journey by flying to Tsavo West National Park and the elegant Finch Hattons Camp that has continued the tradition of Denys Finch Hatton’s luxurious safari lifestyle.

Tsavo West National Park is home to the marvel of Mzima Springs, replenished with two hundred and twenty million liters of crystal-clear water, every day, from the underground streams stemming from the lava massif known as the Chyulu Hills, 40-50 kilometers away. Mzima forms a haven for a rich wildlife pageant with Elephant soaking half immersed in the waters; light- footed but ponderous looking Hippo, apparently weightless, tip-toeing across the bottom; Crocodiles basking on the bank or swirling through the water; Gazelles, Zebra and Giraffe wandering around the banks through the thick acacias and raffia palms together with hundreds of chattering Monkeys and birds. Mzima is also the main source of Mombasa's water supply.

Denys Finch Hatton was one of Kenya's great adventurers. He devoted his life exploring the wild in style. In his camp, dinner was served on fine china with silver and crystal, while the gentle strains of Mozart played in the background. Here in Tsavo, where he lived and died, this tradition lives on.

Finch Hatton's camp, is privately owned and continues one man's dream to create the ideal, offering guests a unique opportunity to relive the golden era of the safari in absolute elegance, 5 star comfort and the finest cuisine surrounded by the spectacle of the great African wilderness. A great feature for your Photo Safari collection of great pictures!

This morning it is off to Amboseli.
The image of elephants wandering across grassy plains with the snowy peak of Mt Kilimanjaro in the background is one known even to armchair travelers. This epitomizes Amboseli National Park and highlights the stark contrasts Africa has to offer.

This park is renowned for its elephants, which may be seen in herds over 100 strong drinking from the surface springs. Big old bull elephants carry some of the largest tusks to be seen anywhere in Africa and is a renowned feature of this park.

Adding to your viewing are buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, giraffes, impala and warthog. Attendant carnivores include lion, leopard, caracal, cheetah, jackal, hyena and serval cat.

Bird life is plentiful and you can expect to see pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers and many types of eagles.

Deep in the heart of the world famous Amboseli National Park is the Magnificent Ol Tukai lodge. Lying at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and dotted with yellow barked Acacia trees and cream slate, Ol Tukai blends perfectly into the African Savannah.

Ol Tukai is the perfect location to bring out your naturalist instincts. Numerous animals are at home at the Amboseli National Park, elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, giraffe and gazelle. For the professional or amateur birdwatcher the Ol Tukai bird-walk offers a wide variety of bird species. Ol Tukai offers an unparalleled "return to nature" experience.
