Two Namibia Safaris
Namibia is a remote, arid, mysterious country with a population density of 7 persons per square mile. Some of our clients liken it to the end of the earth. It is quite distinctive with awesome sand dunes 1200 feet high, the desolate Namib desert and the eery Etosha Pan. Poe would have loved this place. Oh yes, you will too!

Many clients wanting to see Victoria Falls (and why not?) as well as Cape Town, go to Botswana and the Okavango Delta and on to Namibia to the Dunes, the Pan and then a short flight to Cape Town because they want to see something truly different.

We created 2 Namibia safaris that are relatively short since time management is important to many of you when traveling to southern Africa.

Namibia Safari # 1. The Dunes Visit

Day 1: Arrive Windhoek
Welcome to Namibia! We will meet you and take you to your hotel and dinner.

Day 2: Namib Desert
An early morning charter flight will take you to the Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert where you can see the highest sand dunes in the world. You can climb these 1200-foot dunes (or maybe partially), take nature walks, game drives or relax at the pool.

You will be staying at the Kulala Desert Lodge that is situated within the arid Namib Desert on the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve, and is closest to the iconic red dunes of the Sossusvlei. The camp comprises 15 thatched and canvas "kulalas" ("to sleep" in Oshiwambo) with en-suite bathrooms and verandas. Each unit is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and has a deck on the flat rooftop where bedrolls are placed for guests to sleep under the myriad stars of the Namibia sky.

The main area, with décor inspired by northern Africa, has a lounge, bar, dining area, plunge pool, and wrap-around veranda overlooking the waterhole - a perfect location to view and photograph the desert vista. The overall setting is a true delight to the senses, bringing together the rhythm of Namibia, wholesome meals and intimacy.

Early morning guided nature drives to the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei are through a private gate on the Tsauchab River. World-famous Sossusvlei is an enormous clay pan, flanked by the famous red sand dunes that stand out starkly against the blue sky. These dunes have developed over millions of years, the wind continuously transforming the contours of this red sand sea.

Nature drives and walks are also offered on the private reserve with those incredible views, and to catch a glimpse of the denizens of the desert. Another option, at an extra cost, is early morning ballooning, beginning at first light. The balloon safari offers a truly unique experience to soar silently above the magnificent Namibia sand dunes and desert, with a champagne breakfast being served at your landing site.

Day 3: Sossusvlei
It will be an early morning wake up-call so that you may arrive at the Sossusvlei by sunrise for some fantastic pictures. And engage in other activities. In the late afternoon you will board your charter flight to Windhoek to continue your journey.

Namibia Safari # 2: The Animals of Etosha

Day 1: Windhoek
You will be met at the Windhoek International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Time permitting; an afternoon city tour is planned followed by dinner.

Day 2: Etosha National Park
After an early breakfast, we will depart for the famed Etosha stopping at Otjiwarongo for lunch and arriving at the Okaukeujo Camp in the afternoon. You will stay in the double waterhole chalet that is quite close to the illuminated water hole that is visited by animals the entire night.

Day 3: Etosha National Park
At a shade over 8400 sq miles Etosha National Park is the fourth largest game park in Africa. Jam-packed with wildlife, it is the shining gem in Namibia. Salt pans form the heart of the park and sparse scrubs and grassy plains that become hilly mopane woodlands as you move away from the pans surround these. Etosha Pan covers nearly a fifth of the park and is fringed with natural springs that attract a cross section of African wildlife from the diminutive – and endemic – Damara Dik Dik to the magnificent elephant.

Etosha is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one specie of fish. The Etosha Park is one of the first places on any itinerary designed for a holiday in Namibia.

Today will be a full day. You will start after breakfast entering the Reserve and heading for the eastern section of the Park. After a rest stop and lunch at the Halali Camp you continue the game drive until we reach the eastern end of the Park.

The luxurious Mushara Lodge is located a short distance from the entrance to the park where you will spend two nights. In a horseshoe shape around the swimming pool there are ten well-spaced thatched chalets. Each chalet and the rooms are extremely spacious and are furnished with air-conditioning, mosquito net, mini bar fridge, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, electric lights, direct dial telephone, wardrobe and luggage rack. The bathrooms are en suite with separate toilette.

Day 4: Etosha National Park
This will be a full day of game drives in this magnificent park.

Day 5: Windhoek
You will depart for Windhoek via the old mining town of Tsumeb with lunch in Otjiwarongo. Arrival at your hotel will be in the late afternoon. After check in and some rest we will meet you for a farewell dinner.

Day 6: Departure
We will meet and transfer you to the airport for your flight from Namibia and say our farewells.
