Here is a special trip for those who want to explore deeper into southern Africa. You will see three different worlds on this trip. First, the wonders of Victoria Falls, second the wildlife paradise surrounding the Chobe River in Botswana and third, the wondrous Okavango Delta.

Day 1: Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park
Welcome! We will meet in Victoria Falls and take you to the Chobe Game Lodge in Chobe National Park. The Lodge overlooks the Chobe River and each room, with its own private terrace, faces the river. Your stay will be fully inclusive including game drives in a 4X4 safari vehicle, game viewing via small highly maneuverable boats, sunset cruises on a river boat originally from Victoria Falls, and the refreshing swimming pool. The rooms are air-conditioned and offer a complimentary mini-bar. You will take your first game drive today.
Chobe Game Lodge

Days 2-3: Chobe National Park
There will be two days of wildlife viewing in this magnificent park. You can view the animals by land or river. The largest herds of Elephants in Africa reside here (30,000) along with Lion, Buffalo, Wild Dog, Roan and Sable Antelope and many other species. The river has more than its share of hippos and crocodiles with Fish Eagles always on the alert for a wayward fish.

Day 4:Camp Moremi
After breakfast, you will be flown to Camp Moremi. Situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve, Camp Moremi offers an unsurpassed African Safari experience.

The Okavango Delta is one of the world’s largest inland water systems. Its headwaters start in Angola’s western highlands then flows through Namibia (called the Kavango) and finally enters Botswana, where it is then called the Okavango.

Millions of years ago the Okavango River flowed into a large inland lake called Lake Makgadikgadi (now Makgadikgadi Pans). Tectonic activity and faulting interrupted the flow of the river causing it to backup and form what is now the Okavango Delta. This has created a unique system of waterways that now supports a vast array of animal and plant life that would have otherwise been a dry Kalahari savanna.

The delta’s floods are fed from the Angolan rains, which start in October and finish sometime in April. The floods only cross the border between Botswana and Namibia in December and will only reach the bottom end of the delta (Maun) sometime in July taking almost nine months from the source to the bottom. This slow meandering pace of the flood is due to the lack of decline in elevation, which drops a little more than 180 feet over a distance of 275 miles. The deltas water dead ends in the Kalahari – via the Botetle River, with over 95 per cent of the water eventually evaporating.

During the peak of the flooding the delta’s area can expand to over 6,000 square miles, shrinking to less than 3400 square miles in the low period. As the water travels through the delta, the wildlife starts to move back into the region and starts to congregate on the edge of the newly flooded areas, May through October.

The delta environment has large numbers of animal populations that are otherwise rare, such as crocodile, red lechwe, sitatunga, elephant, wild dogs, buffalo, wattled crane as well as the other more common mammals and bird life. The best time for a Botswana Safari in the delta is during the May-October period, as the animal life is concentrated along the flooded areas and the vegetation has dried out. The best time for birding and vegetation is during the rainy season (Nov.- April) as the migrant bird populations are returning and the plants are flowering and green.

Camp Moremi accommodates only 22 guests in intimate exclusivity in walk-through East African style safari tents with hot showers and toilets. Each tent is furnished, Botswana safari style, with a Rhodesian Teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional directors chairs; colorful woven rugs, designer linen and matching interior blinds complete your African hideaway.

Shaded by giant ebony trees the magnificent Moremi Tree Lodge is an elegant elevated thatch and timber structure comprising of a main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and stylishly decorated cocktail bar cooled by overhead fans resulting in the ideal Botswana Safari. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives by open 4x4 safari vehicle, excellent bird watching, exploring the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by powerboat.

Trained resident naturalist guides will share their knowledge and deep love of Botswana wilderness with you on game drives where sightings of wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephants and buffalo are regular occurrences.
Overnight stay at Camp Moremi

Days 5-6: Camp Moremi
You will explore the papyrus-lined waterways by Mokoro and specially adapted boats. Experienced guides will conduct guided walking tours on the many Islands in the area. A Botswana safari has one of the greatest concentrations of birds in all Africa. Exploring these waterways and Islands will be one of the most remembered experiences of your life.
Two nights spent at Camp Moremi

Day 7: Victoria Falls
Today you will fly to Kasane and transfer by road to Victoria Falls where we say our farewells and you continue your journey.
